The Ticino River is the perfect river for canoeing! The Ticino River is usually navigable throughout the summer season and is characterized by crystal clear water and a breathtaking landscape with a view of the Ticino mountains. Along the river trip you can take a break on the sandbanks and take a nice bath! If you don’t know the river, we recommend starting down from Cresciano.
From Cresciano down the river is very easy to navigate without interruption to Lake Maggiore. Although the river has a maximum difficulty level of 2, there are still some dangers that should not be underestimated, such as the presence of trees and branches along the bank! We do not recommend navigating the river with a water level higher than 150 m3, because if the canoe tips over or you fall into the water, it is very difficult to stop on the bank. If you already have good experience in the rubber dinghy, you can start your paddling tour (if the current speed allows it) from Iragna.
The part from Iragna to Cresciano is a bit more technical and fun, but consequently also more dangerous, as the probability of tipping over and having to swim is significantly higher! It is also important to avoid the dangerous rapids of Lodrino in time! If you're in the mood for a bit of action, but don't feel ready to tackle the tour on your own, we'd be happy to accompany you on this adventure!
If you decide to go out on your own, we will help you with important information and of course with the rental of the necessary equipment for a safe canoe tour on the Ticino River.
The equipment we provide consists of: inflatable canoe (2,3,4 or 10 seats), oars, life jacket, helmet and on request wetsuit, neoprene shorts, neoprene socks and suitable shoes.
The material can be picked up at our base in Cresciano, where we will explain how to use it correctly. After use, the material must be returned to our base. You can also book a pick-up service on request and at an additional cost.
If you have respect for the river or prefer something even more peaceful, you can also paddle on Lake Maggiore or Lake Lugano. Our canoes are perfect for both the river and the lake! We would like to remind you that purelements® accepts no responsibility for accidents!
